Kindred in Bay View opens Sunday
Kindred, a restaurant serving contemporary American fare, opens March 5 in Bay View.
The restaurant, at 2535 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. on the ground floor of what will be a micro hotel, announced its opening day on its website.
It's operated by sisters Marija and Vesna Madunic. The chef is Nathan Rader, a native of Pennsylvania who has worked in Big Sur, Calif., and Jackson Hole, Wyo., among other places.
The menu starts with dishes such as wood-ear mushroom spread ($7), mussels with lemongrass, coconut and ginger broth ($13) and roasted cauliflower with five-spice sunchoke puree and morado beans ($8).
Larger plates include seared striped bass ($23), short rib braised in stout ($21) and a burger with chedddar and pickled chiles ($13).
Hours for dinner are 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday. The bar stays open an hour later.
Weekend brunch will begin later.
