Charlize Theron drives Cannes crazy during 'Mad' premiere

There might have been other actors at the Cannes Film Festival photocall for Mad Max: Fury Road other than Charlize Theron.

But you would never know by the state she left the French photographers in before the film's Cannes premiere Thursday.

The only thing that might have gone down bigger than George Miller's return to the Mad Max franchise was the sight of Theron in this rambunctious leather, fringed number towering in her high heels.

Hard to believe that Theron appears in the movie covered in dirt with a buzz haircut, very much holding her own alongside Tom Hardy's Max.

Theron noted that the film was literally gritty, shot in the African desert. But it took years in production to have it edited into shape. There was time to freshen up, grow her hair back (and start dating Sean Penn).
"You go on with life. I knew it was a long time. Because when I saw the film, my hair was in a ponytail."

Mad Max: Fury Road gets its Cannes gala premiere Thursday night French time. It's already had packed screenings, with applause erupting during the elaborate chase scenes and as the credits rolled.
