Party on! 12 things you missed after the Emmys ended

The Emmys were far from over after the last awards were handed out Sunday night. Stars flocked to a series of glamorous after-parties, where food, drink and merriment awaited. What did you miss after Jimmy Kimmel took his curtain call?

At the Governors Ball...

Can't sit down

You'd think Kimmel would want to take a load off after hosting the Emmy Awards, but no. Instead of sitting at his assigned dining table, he stood and chatted with a posse that included his TV sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez. Meanwhile, SNL star Leslie Jones was also standing, but not surrounded by close friends: She was obliging a non-stop stream of fans requesting selfies.

No longer 'Strangers'

The fashionable Stranger Things kids, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin, may have been the youngest stars at the after-party, but that didn't hold them back from hanging with adult actors. "John Travolta was warm and nice," said McLaughlin. "I was like, 'I'm a fan.' He was like, 'You guys are great. I love you guys.' "

Spacey can maneuver

Frank Underwood would be proud of Kevin Spacey. The actor, who plays the master politician in House of Cards, showed an impressive ability to work a room at the streaming service’s post-Emmy party Sunday at NeueHouse in Hollywood.

Spacey was chatting on a couch before moving to an outside patio for a chat with Cards co-star Paul Sparks. Later, he was inside talking at the bar, greeting a guest in a far corner of the temporary party structure, posing for a photo with a fan and then holding court at another patio table with a new group of people. Cards was well represented, with Michael Kelly, Derek Cecil and Neve Campbell also in attendance.

Ansari masters balancing act

Aziz Ansari, who won a writing Emmy for his Netflix comedy, Master of None, showed impressive coordination at the party, holding his statuette in one hand and a drink in the other as he navigated a crowded bar area. Asked if the Emmy was heavy, he smiled and nodded yes, before handing off the award and heading to the bar to talk to Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz.

Oswalt gives thanks

Later, Ansari exchanged hugs with another statuette recipient, comedian Patton Oswalt, who won a writing Emmy for his special, Patton Oswalt: Talking for Clapping. Oswalt expressed appreciation for Netflix’s commitment to comedy in a brief chat with USA TODAY. “They’re giving exposure to a lot of up-and-coming voices. It’s great,” he said.

Hough dance-surrenders to a 5-year-old

Dancing With the Stars standout Julianne Hough met her match on the dance floor with 5-year-old Jeremy Maguire, who plays Sofia Vergara's character's younger son, Fulgencio “Joe” Pritchett, on Modern Family.  A crowd gathered as "Lil Joe" worked hand waves, hip moves and all kinds of action, not daunted by his professional partner. Finally, Hough had to surrender and simply bowed repeatedly as Maguire continued to bust moves.

Dancing Itos make a return

Kenneth Choi, who played Judge Lance Ito in The People v. O.J. Simpson, looked over a corner of the party dominated with actors from the Emmy standout. Choi appeared far more James Bond than Ito with his black tie undone around his unbuttoned white shirt. “The Ito look is a very bad look," he said. Thrilled with the success of the show at the Emmys, Choi vowed that the Dancing Ito could come out. “There might be Break-Dancing Judge Ito by the end of this night.”

Marcia, Marcia, Sarah

In a wood-paneled corner of the palm-tree-lined patio, The People v. O.J Simpson party rocked late into the night.  A power couch included true lead prosecutor Marcia Clark and Sarah Paulson, the Emmy-winning actress who portrayed her. The two sat in animated conversation, with Clark’s face in a perpetual smile. They held court as friends stopped by, including jacket-less producer Ryan Murphy, who dance-talked in front of the two for a happy conversation.

Johnny Travolta is back

Nearby, John Travolta, who played lawyer Robert Shapiro and was a producer of the FX series, sat practically in a potted plant with wife Kelly Preston and friends in the crowded corner. Travolta was giddy with excitement, posing enthusiastically for photos, kissing the cheek of anyone who wanted to take a picture with him.  Finally he decided to head home, but the party was too rocking to find Preston for an easy exit. “Where’s Kelly? Tell her to meet me out front. This is too complicated to navigate," he told security.

Fashion ruled

Tracee Ellis Ross made a quick-change, swapping her white, cut-out, Ralph Lauren red-carpet gown for a simple, chic black leopard number before the Black-ish actress sat down for dinner with friends. Meanwhile, Modern Family's Ariel Winter, chatting with friends near Billy Eichner and Chris Noth, continued to turn heads in her sheer Yousef Al-Jasmi gown.

'Game of Thrones' was heavy on gold

Statuettes were plunked amid glasses of wine in the vast Game of Thrones section of the party, where Nikolaj Coster-Waldau sipped a beer at a table with Emilia Clarke, Gwendoline Christie and friends. Nearby, Kit Harington made the rounds and author George R.R. Martin received well-wishers at his table.

Amy Schumer held court

Everyone seemed to want to say "hi" to the comedian, who sat at a circular table surrounded by her boyfriend, Ben Hanisch, her sister, Kim Caramele, and several friends. Famous faces who dropped by to chat included Zac Posen, who dramatically pounded the table with excitement at one point, and a glam Minnie Driver. Nearby, Bryan Cranston sat at an table reserved for his All the Way production and grabbed a late bite as he chatted with the animated cast of Veep.
