Aug. 26 is National Dog Day, and while you may be celebrating the four-legged friend in your house, we’re celebrating four dogs who have given a deeper meaning to the phrase “man’s best friend.”

1. Toy poodle goes to bingo night

Nala is a toy poodle who works at a nursing home, attends group therapy, bingo nights and, most important, visits residents when they need an extra dose of love.

2. Golden Retriever survives 10 days in the wild

Possibly the cutest dog and human reunion we've ever seen was a result of a scary 10-day trek through the woods for this lost golden retriever.

3. Stray dog falls in love with runner

This runner had prepared for every possible scenario that he could come across during his 155-mile run in the Gobi Desert. But he never prepared for a furry companion.

4. A playmate for tiny patients

Cheeto may be only 8 pounds, but this little pup is full of love for children who need it most.
