Bay View — WMSE will host its seventh annual Backyard BBQ from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, a day of music and fun at a new location, the Humboldt Park band shell, 3000 S. Howell Ave.
The event is intended as a thank-you to the radio station's listeners and members for their continued support.
The day kicks off with local country favorites Doghouse Flowers, followed by Gypsy Calypso, Midwest Death Rattle, hometown hero Trapper Schoepp, and national favorite Balkun Brothers. Closing out the night are Sonny Knight and The Lakers.
“This year we’ve moved to a bigger park so it means an even bigger show," said WMSE GM Tom Crawford. "With our very eclectic and extremely knowledgeable listeners, we try to find something for everyone. It’s not always an easy task, but like years past, I believe we’ve nailed it!”
Local restaurants will be on hand to keep attendees well fed, and sponsor MKE Brewing will be on tap.
Listener support of WMSE means it can continue to bring the best in music programming, like Dewey Gill’s Big Band on Saturday Mornings, The Blues Drive, Orgullo Latino, Local/ Live or indie rock shows, Crawford said.
WMSE 91.7 FM broadcasts live daily from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
