Cudahy — St. John Ev. Lutheran Church took its 110th anniversary celebration outdoors Aug. 21 with a free community carnival.
Organizers called the event "a huge success." About 200 people attended.
In addition to the great food, beverages, and desserts, there was a cotton candy machine, snow cones, and popcorn to make the day very festive at the church, 4850 S. Lake Drive.
Special events included a bounce house, bingo with nice prizes, and over a dozen carnival games with prizes to please everyone. Topping this all was a special appearance by Bingo the Clown, who made balloon animals and did face painting for the children! Thank you to the over 200 people who registered to attend this fun filled event.
St. John Church's anniversary celebration continues with a 9-11 recognition ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, as the congregation honors First Responders (from three local police and fire departments). Emergency vehicles will be on display. The church is inviting the community to honor rescue workers.
