SOUTH MILWAUKEE - A documentary on church festivals will get its first Milwaukee-area theatrical screening on Sunday, April 23, in South Milwaukee.

"Tilt-A-Whirls, Cowbells and Beer," by director Ron Faiola, takes viewers on a summer tour of area church festivals. The documentary features the rides, culture, music, food, drinks and fun at local parishes, including festivities at Divine Mercy, St. Matthias, St. Roman and the 55th and final festival at St. Veronica.

The film – which premiered on Milwaukee PBS in July 2015 and was later screened at the Weyawega Film Festival, the Geneva Film Festival and Wisconsin Film Festival in April 2016 – will be shown from 3 to 5 p.m. April 23 at the Knights of Columbus Hall No. 1709, 732 Badger Ave. Tickets, available at the door, are $5 for those 13 and older and free to younger children.

The screening will include a question-and-answer session with the filmmakers (director/producer Faiola and producer John Prudlow) and select cast members.

Cash bar and movie snacks available. DVDs of the film with bonus footage will also be available for $5.

Faiola also directed "Wisconsin Supper Clubs" and "Fish Fry Night Milwaukee."
