ST. FRANCIS -  The city-sponsored third annual Shop St. Francis Week – part of a Community Connections project to promote and increase awareness of our local business, attract visitors, and newcomers – will run from June 26 to July 2.


Shop St. Francis features special offers in within the 53235 ZIP code designed to encourage area residents "to connect and save with our local businesses," according to a press release.

The city's reigning ambassador, 2017 Miss St. Francis Kayla Knuth, and St. Francis Mayor CoryAnn St. Marie-Carls are working with other community volunteers to promote the event.

Business participate at no cost and the project is supported by donations and fundraising. 

During the seven-day promotion period, shoppers and guests are simply encouraged to watch for signs and posters in the community of participating business.

This "special connections week" leads up to the parade and festivities on the Fourth of July in St. Francis, St. Marie-Carls said.

“This is just another way St. Francis can show their amazing sense of community," the mayor said.  "Visiting our local businesses and making local connections to support commerce in our city is what this week is all about.”

The event includes some special weekend activities.

They include a Charity Corn Roast from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 1,at Layton Fruit Mart to benefit the St. Francis Fire Department.

July 1 is also a Special Community Connections Day with Miss St. Francis featuring activities and prizes for any kids that stop by. Knuth will also be at Gregg’s True Value with Free Recycle Bags at 10 a.m.

She will also be visiting participating business throughout the week concluding with brunch at Polonez on Sunday, July 2.
