No Democrat has won Utah since 1964, but Donald Trump’s high unfavorables in the state are giving Hillary Clinton's campaign hope — so much so that they're opening a campaign office there.

Tuesday night, top Clinton aide Jake Sullivan will appear at a field office opening in Salt Lake City, according to the campaign.

Clinton had previously made a pitch to voters in the state in an op-ed in The Deseret News where she focused on religious freedom. Utah has a large Mormon population.

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, who is Mormon and has denounced Trump, won more than 70% of the vote in Utah in his race against President Obama in 2012.

Neither Trump nor Clinton won the state during the primary season. On the Republican side, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz was supported by a whopping 69% of caucusgoers, followed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich with 17% and Trump at 14%. Meanwhile, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders beat Clinton by a four-to-one margin, 79%-20%, in the Democratic caucuses.
