The attorneys representing Landon Rice have claimed in a media statement that a Lee County grand jury declined to indict Auburn football player accused of rape.

Rice’s attorneys Augusta S. Dowd and Kelly Brennan, sent out a statement Thursday afternoon saying Rice, who left the Auburn football program for "personal reasons" last September, “has never been arrested or charged with any crime”.

“On April 12, 2017, a Lee County grand jury decided there was not sufficient evidence to support any charge against Landon Rice,” Dowd and Brennan’s statement reads. “The members of the grand jury were presented with facts and heard the testimony of both Landon and his accuser.  It is correct that Landon passed a lie detector test shortly after the allegations were made.  Landon Rice has never been arrested or charged with any crime.”

Landon Rice receives his Under Armour All-America jersey. Rice was a four-star signee in Auburn's 2016 recruiting class before leaving the program for "personal reasons".

According to social media posts, Rice is currently enrolled at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston, Mississippi and has been working out with the football team but MGCC officials have not updated the 2017 spring roster.

“Landon is glad that this matter is behind him,” Dowd & Brennan’s statement reads. “He is currently considering opportunities to play football with Division I schools.”
