The prospects that the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series race starts as scheduled at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday look bleak.

Rain fell Saturday night and was expected to continue all day Sunday. The National Weather Service has a flash flood warning in place through 4 p.m. ET and forecasted about two inches of rain Sunday in the area of eastern Tennessee where the track is located.

The Food City 500 is scheduled to begin at 2:13 p.m. ET.

While the track does have lights, the AccuWeather forecast calls for at least a 43% chance of rain through midnight.

NASCAR typically runs postponed races a day later. Following what the series has done in the past, the Cup race would be rescheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday.
